Everything is going right for Boston and nothing for New York. The Celtics take game two in the series 96-93 to take a 2-0 lead over the Knicks. Boston was led by Rajon Rondos post season career high 30 points and 8 dimes to go along with Kevin Garnetts 12 points and 10 rebounds. Garnett also forced a turnover with less than five seconds left in regulation to seal the game after he hit the go ahead bucket on the other end.
Boston doesn't like making it easy for themselves this series. They allow the Knicks to hang around and come back from big leads. Tonight the C's pushed an 11-1 run during the third quarter only to lose it early on in the fourth quarter, but the vet's of the eastern conference know how to win games.
Carmelo Anthony was put in a bad position when Amare was sidelined along Chauncey Billups with back spasms. But he shouldered the burden with an epic performance scoring 42 points and crashing the glass with 17 rebounds. The Knicks outrebounded the Celtics 53-37 which contributed to 24 second chance points which was what kept them in the game.
New York will need another superhuman performance from Anthony if Amare is still out for game three and needs to stop turning the ball over if they want to get back in the series. They also need to hit their wide open guys under the basket, several times tonight Anthony or Douglas did not hit the open Knick under the basket after doubles or pick and rolls.
The Celtics continue to find ways to win in what I think is the most exciting series of the first round in the East. Rondo showed he could score, even though his jump shot was still deplorable. Pierce could not stop Anthony all night but he did a good job of forcing the ball out of his hand on the last possesion. Who would you rather have with the ball Jerrod Jeffries or Carmelo Anthony?

Hey Amare was there first......
The Knicks look to bounce back after a teeth grinding aggravating game one loss to the Celtics
Amare Stoudemire is one of the most humble and professional athletes in the NBA especially when his team loses. He always shows a winning attitude and has a fun loving persona about him. But after a game one 87-85 loss which saw him score 28 points and grab 11 rebounds but not see the ball in the Knicks final six possessions he should get a little upset. Or does the argument come that Amare isn't ready to be the star? Is he fine in letting Anthony take the lime light in the MSG the mecca of basketball? I don't think so. That's why he went to the Knicks in the first place because he wanted to be the biggest star in the biggest city.
He is a premier post player in the NBA, he has the moves in the block to go along with a much improved mid range game and ball handling skills. He showed how dominating he was during the first half of the season and was almost the run away for the MVP during the first two months. Now the Knicks have become an even faster paced team with the addition of Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony.
No doubt Billups and Anthony make the Knicks more formidable but they seem to go to them more when the game inevitably comes to its crucial climaxes. Amare Stoudemire could not and would not be stopped last night and when leading late in the fourth quarter of a playoffs series between a conference rival you need to go to you're most reliable and efficient play maker on the night and that was Amare.
I know that Billups went out late in the fourth with an injury and some may say the Knicks like taking quick shots that's how they got the lead. But I say you got the lead with Amare banging away at a high energy but aging Kevin Garnett and over matched Glen Davis. So if they want to run their system and not run through the best player that night then they must want to walk out of the playoffs in round one.
